American Way

The film maker's of the new Superman movie think that the "American Way" has changed meaning since the 50's. Did the meaning of asshole change since the 50's? Gee, you think I'm ticked off? I don't care what non-americans think the American way is, but it is and will be the same as it always was. Integrity, hard work, fairness and the golden rule. simple. If they did not purposefully set out to eliminate that line, I would not be so angered. But they did, and I am.

Surrender while you're ahead.

153 congressional delegates think we've no chance to win the war on terror and choose to not even continue.

For Father's Day, a song. (well lyrics anyway)

One of my favorite bands right now is Yellowcard. Their last album had a song on it titled "Life Of a Salesman". The author's father must have been a salesman, since the lyrics do not mention sales at all. It's nice to hear and read lyrics that don't tell horrible stories of horrible fathers. Most of Yellowcard's songs are on the positive side. I get teary eyed almost everytime I hear this song remembering how wonderful my father was when I was growing up. He still is wonderful, for sure, but the song brings me back to walking on the beach at Lighthouse State Park in New Haven with my father and my brother. So, in honor of Father's Day, here are the lyrics to that song. My Mom and Dad will like the lyrics I know they would not like the song so much though.

"Life Of A Salesman" by Yellowcard

What's a dad for dad?
Tell me why I'm here dad
Whisper in my ear that I'm growing up to be a better man, dad
Everything is fine dad
Proud that you are mine dad
Cause I know I'm growing up to be a better man

Father I will always be
That same boy that stood by the sea
And watched you tower over me
Now I'm older I wanna be the same as you

What's a dad for dad?
Taught me how to stand, dad
Took me by the hand and you showed me how to be a bigger man, dad
Listen when you talk, dad
Follow where you walk, dad
And you know that I will always do the best I can

Father I will always be
That same boy that stood by the sea
And watched you tower over me
Now I'm older I wanna be the same as you

(When I am a dad, dad
I'm gonna be a good dad
Do the best you could, dad
Always understood, dad
Taught me what was right, dad
Opened up my eyes, dadGlad to call you my, dad
Thank you for my life, dad)

Thank you, Dad.
